“We spent 6 sunny days in this very charming apartment with a terrific terrace overlooking the beautiful medieval village. From the terrace you hear only birds, donkeys, the stream below … quiet, tranquil place. Exactly what we were looking for. Thanks Sheila and Michael for having us and for being helpful with information – we may be back some day.”

“We had a fantastic week at Casa Giulia – relaxing on the beautiful terrace, admiring the fantastic scenery. We dragged ourselves away from the terrace to explore the local towns and villages and the local cuisine. A week well spent!”

“We could not have asked for more from our stay in Tavernelle. Nestled in the rugged Italian mountains but easily accessible by car and with great local amenities. The apartment itself is excellent, we were surprised by how big it was, the photos do not do justice to the beautiful balcony and living area, let alone the stunning views around it! The property was clean and everything worked as it should/was described. It was great to have wifi which worked so well up in the hills. The local area has a brilliant butchers shop and lovely authentic Italian bar which serves incredible pizza at the weekend. For larger shopping trips we tended to head into Licciana Nardi just down the road which has a bigger butchers shop, bread and large grocers, the italian produce in this area is great. Whilst there are numerous activities and restaurants in the area, we mostly found ourselves cooking in the apartment and enjoying the balcony in the sun. However we did enjoying running around the mountain roads and rugged walking paths. All in all I could not recommend Casa Guila highly enough, an excellent trip, if only it had been another week!”

“My sister and I visited the beautiful village of Tavernelle, where our grandfather was born, last week. Casa Giulia is a charming apartment and was a perfect fit for us. Thanks to Sheila, our hostess, we found some cousins we didn’t know we had and had a wonderful visit with them … I can’t thank you enough for that. We ate in the local restaurant every day, the food is delicious. I highly recommend Casa Giulia and a visit to Tavernelle.”

“After reading the great reviews Casa Giulia lived up to our expectations. The Casa is charming and had everything we needed, including a welcome pack with enough food to see us through to the next day. We enjoyed a beer on the amazing terrace … beautiful with great views. I didn’t realise how attractive the village would be, and the villagers were so friendly and helpful! The owners were super helpful after the umbrella blew away … replaced discreetly while we were out! I would strongly recommend the restaurant, a visit to the Cinque Terre , and Florence. Not enough time for everything! All in all, the best holiday, the Italians are always so friendly! Thanks M & S, we hope to return!”

“Tavernelle is a lovely medieval village in the mountains and the large terrace of the apartment is the main attraction, giving spectacular views all round. The accommodation is perfect, cosy with everything you might need. The location is ideal for exploring the mountain villages, either on foot or by car. We particularly recommend the walk up to the Montagne Verde restaurant in the old monastery clearly visible from the terrace. Excellent food and wine at a very reasonable price! The owners were very helpful in recommending places to explore.”

“We had a fabulous time in Casa Giulia. This wonderful little medieval village is such a find … in a part of Tuscany most tourists don’t get to see. We had plans to do so much travelling but we ended up spending a lot of time on the large terrace bathed in sunshine, listening to the sounds of the village and enjoying the glorious views! As the sea and markets are only a short hop down the mountain we also did some great day trips to the Cinque Terre, Lerici and the high-endWednesday fashion market in Forte dei Marmi! Also to the beautiful walled town of Lucca, where we rented bikes and cycled the walls.

We were spoiled by the excellent local cuisine. My particular favourite was the bar/restaurant Il Capriolo where the food was delicious and we were always made welcome. The owners of Casa Giulia were very helpful with advice on arrival and a lot of good local information. The apartment was spotless and impeccably maintained, but the gem was that amazing terrace. All in all, an unforgettable, wonderful experience.”

“Fabulous. Lovely property for a couple and great value. The location is remote enough to need a car but from the property everything worth visiting is within an hours drive. The owners were very very helpful and I recommend a visit! We would return without any doubt.”
